The Bearpark Foundation was established in 1997 to support coaching education in British Columbia as an ongoing memorial legacy to Bob Bearpark. As a former Canadian National Soccer Coach and Director of BC Sport Services at the time of his death, Bob was devoted to the ongoing professional development of coaches in this country. He is remembered for his dedication to sport from the grassroots to elite levels and for his career in physical education, coaching and sport administration.
The Bearpark Foundation also supports the Coaches Association of BC (Coaches BC) in providing recognition awards for the BC Coach of the Year Awards for coaches at Grassroots-School/Community, Provincial and International levels. Consistent with Bob's philosophy and again in partnership with the CABC, the Foundation has special bursaries to support coaching education for women, aboriginal coaches and coaches of athletes with a disability.
The Directors of the Bearpark Foundation would like to thank the many donors and supporters of this coaching education legacy to British Columbia. The Foundation distributes $10,000 per year to coaches throughout the province of BC.
